Mavis Obeng Asante was born on July 7th,1985.
She’s from a family of 5 and the second born of three children. Mavis Asante (Supremelady) as she’s popularly know is a Ghanaian gospel musician, a Reverend minister and a marriage counselor who hails from Anyinasu in the Ashanti Region.
Mavis Asante started her musical career at a very early age. She started singing at the church of Pentecost, Oforikrom and Asafo district respectively all in Kumasi, where she was sometimes put on table to stand and sing during conventions. Mavis Asante was brought up by both parents, Mr Obeng Mireku and Madam Elizabeth Obeng Amponsah.
Mavis Asante grew up in Kumasi and that’s where she had all her basic and secondary education. She started at New Oxford International School, to St Paul’s Preparatory School and then St Paul’s Catholic School and also to Amankwatia M/A Basic School where she completed her Junior high education. She then gained an admission to one of the reputable secondary school in Kumasi, Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School (Okess) where she studied Literature, Government, Economics and Twi. She furthered her education at St. Louis Training College and Trans African College.
Because of her affection towards music, in 2008, she decided to audition for the popular talent show “TV3 Mentor reality show season 4 and that’s where she got into the limelight. Although she didn’t win and was evicted in the 9th week, she really proved herself week after week.
In October 2009, Mavis Asante then, Mavis of Tv3 mentor fame released her debut album dubbed “Obaatan” which had the most popular song “Aseda” on it. The album was a collection of soul-uplifting and thanksgiving gospel songs that are still trending in the Christian space. This album actually launched the gospel diva into the gospel fraternity making her a household name and a force to reckon with in the industry.
Mavis Asante got married in 2011 to Prophet Christopher Asante Mensah, one of Ghana’s finest preacher. This made her took a long break from the music space because of child birth and other things. But she also used that opportunity to better herself academically by doing short causes in journalism and theology. She also started her own Tv show called “The Wives”, which was aired on their own television channel “YesTv” on the MultiTv decoder. It was a show designed to inspire and educate wives.
She released her second album “Howfar”, an 8 track album in 2016. The album contained hit tracks such as “Howfar” and “M’ema W’amo”. Mavis Asante also holds copyrights for singing songs including Aseda, M’ame nya nkwa, Howfar, Obaatan and among others.
Mavis Asante has gained various recognitions, citation of honors and awards. And the very recent one was when “Ghana Youth Music Awards” awarded her as the Gospel female Art in June 2021. And for her love for fashion and how she dresses, “Time Ghana Arts and Entertainment Awards” also awarded her as the Fashion Icon of the year 2023.
As stated earlier, Mavis Asante is married to Prophet Christopher Asante Mensah for the past 13years and the couple is blessed with two children, Christopher Jr. and Christodea , 12 and 11 respectively.
Mavis Asante was ordained as a Reverend Minister and Consecrated into the Office of a Prophetess on the 5th of September, 2020 after she graduated from the Living Faith Theological Seminary affiliated to the Regent University.
Having rolled in much worth to herself, Mavis Asante has impacted and still impacting positively to the gospel fraternity through her songs and inspirational messages.
Mavis Asante, a very beautiful, lovely, humble and God fearing woman loves to read, sing and dance. Her favorite food is banku and okro. Giving and helping the needy is also one of her attributes. She has over the years donated to some orphanages in the country example is the “Eye of the Lord orphanage home” in Accra. And also as part of her humanitarian services, every Christmas she donates cloths and food items to the widows in her church “Crown of Gl
